National Smelting and Refining is an abandoned secondary lead smelting facility located near downtown Atlanta, Georgia. Removal activities which began on September 29, 2003 are being carried out under an Administrative Order on Consent that EPA negotiated with NL Industries and Norfolk Southern Railroad that was executed on August 20, 2001.
