On 6/22/2010, personnel with the City of Atlanta discovered fifteen abandoned drums near the curb. City of Atlanta referred the site to GAEPD. On 6/29/2010, GAEPD visited the site and found that several drums were uncovered and had spilled into the street; initial perceptions of their contents were that they contained waste materials from a backyard biodiesel production operation. EPA TEL dispatched EPA R1 OSC Negrón to inspect the site on 6/29/2010. The neighborhood contains commercial and light industrial facilities, with residences one half block south, and the GA Tech campus 1000ft to the northeast. OSC Negrón, with ERRS, will begin overpacking the drums and collecting the spilled material on 6/30/2010.
